REQUIREMENTS
Gender: M
Age Minimum: 15 (completed 9th grade)

• Team Formation: Teams are to be comprised of up to six players on the court at once. Team rosters are limited to eight players.
• Game Length: Matches will consist of a best 2 out of 3 game series. The first two games in will be played to 25 rally scored. If a third match is required, it will be played to 15 rally scored.
• Start of Game: Game will begin with a coin toss, the winning team will get choice of first serve or the side of the net to defend in the first game. Teams will switch sides and first possession in the second game. In case of a third game, a coin toss will be used to determine serving team.

• a. At the time of service all players must be inside the boundaries of the court.
• b. Players do not have to play in set positions, but must have a standard rotation.
• c. Players must maintain the same service order throughout the match.
• d. Extra players are rotated into the service position.

• a. A legal serve will take place from behind the team’s end line anywhere inside the sidelines.
• b. Serving player must remain behind the end line until the ball has been served. If player serves in the air, he/she can land on or inside the line
• c. A legal serve must cross the net; a legal serve can touch the net on the way over.

• a. Ball must cross over net between the antennae; a ball hitting the antennae is out of bounds.
• b. Player may make slight contact with the net or antennae, as long as it does not interfere with the play.
• c. In blocking, a player may touch the ball beyond the net provided that he/she does not interfere with opponent’s play.
• d. A player may cross under the net provided it does interfere with opponent’s play.

• A card system (yellow/red) will be used be the referees for penalty recognition. A penalty will award the opposing team with ball possession and a point.
• - A yellow card will be given at the discretion of the referees and/or MVL staff for profanity, foul play, or any other action the ref deems inappropriate.
• - A red card is issued for 2 yellow cards, or a serious offense. A player receiving a red card will be ejected from the match.

• Kicking of the ball is allowed, and counted as a hit.
• In addition to the listed rules, we will follow general IHSA rules.
• Ball must be played to the opponents within 3 hits.
• As there is a wide range of skill level, the refs will be lenient on lifts, net, and doubles calls during overhead sets.
• No foul play. or profanity
• SPORTSMANSHIP.
